The Tyrol is very green. There is a reason.
We lingered over breakfast during what we hoped was a temporary greening. No problem as not many km to do today and we were just going to amble through the mountains. But eleven o'clock is eleven and some routines are important, so we hadn't done 40km before we were stopping for a coffee. Then it would be time for lunch.
We were heading for Italy but something went wrong on the way and although we think we were in Italy for about 10km we quickly found ourselves in Slovenia. Slovenia is probably one of the most bike friendly countries we have ever been in. There are signs everywhere on the side of the road welcoming bikers for lunch or a room for a night. Of course it works; well it did for us. Also a number of signs indicating motorcyclists falling off their bikes - however they all seemed to be wearing full face helmets and riding sports bikes so, it didn't apply to us.
Slovenia is also very green.
Where we lunched it was quite high up so we were in the clouds and anyway the owner was sweeping all the water off the tables for lunch. She must have known that is was going to be sunny that afternoon - the Seebodener Morgenpost had equally only said a Wetten morgen. Coming down from the pass we were no longer in the clouds, so it must have been a mist clinging to the mountain side.
Surprisingly we were still in Slovenia and down to less than 300m altitude - approaching the Bay of Venice/Trieste and so we had to admit that it was probably raining and had to don our fluorescent rain jackets, which was an immediate signal for the blue sky to come out as we arrived on the outskirts of Trieste.
Internet problems persist. It really wasn't like this in Chinese Mongolia.
